Group work - pre-school children
We are aware that pre-school aged children sometimes miss out on receiving bereavement support because of their age and level of understanding. We also know how important it is that their parents or carers receive help and guidance in how best to support them.
We currently run groups for pre-school aged children and their parents or carers. The group runs structured sessions covering remembering the person who has died, what death means, what happens after you die, different ways of dying and feelings. The parents/carers and children work in separate groups in the same building. Both benefit greatly from the opportunity to meet up with others who have been bereaved and to share similarities and differences.
This group is offered to families living in Gloucestershire.
Anyone concerned about a bereaved pre-school age child can contact the Winston’s Wish Helpline on 08452 03 04 05 for guidance, information and support.
